French violin maker Mathieu was born in Angers. After graduating from Newark school of violin making in 2016, he moved to Berlin to focus on new making. In 2018, Mathieu began his time here at Ihle Violins, assisting Philip to make bespoke copies of fine old instruments.  

Mathieu and his wife Ines, will soon move to Austria where they will start a new chapter, opening their own joint lutherie business.
